WHO IS IT FOR?
We have a wide variety of ages and skill levels in our In-House program. The ideal In-House level player will have completed the Hockey 1, 2 & 3 class, or another comparable skating or hockey program. In-House players have basic skating skills, feel comfortable on their skates, an enthusiasm for the game of hockey, are committed to attending (on time!) all ice sessions when possible and a willingness to learn and improve. In-House coaches will also prepare players who are interested in progressing onto our Oakland Bears Travel Hockey teams.

GOALS
The Sharks Ice Youth Hockey League is designed to enable players to develop their individual skills in a fun and rewarding environment. On-ice instruction focuses on teaching players the proper techniques of the four fundamentals of hockey: skating, puckhandling, passing and shooting. In addition to individual skill development, players are introduced to basic rules of the game, team play and the importance of teamwork, enabling them to be successful in their progression onto the subsequent levels of play.

ICE SESSIONS
The SIYHL consists of two or three on-ice sessions per week depending on your registration level. Wednesday or Saturday practices consist of a variety of drills designed increase individual player skills and enable all players to build a solid foundation of core hockey skills. Sunday games are strategically designed to maximize the number of touches on the puck for each player, allowing them to utilize their newly learned skills, and create healthy competition while still maintaining a fun and enjoyable environment.
