Catching up with Dennis
If you have not had the chance of watching Coach Chi's interview with Dennis Franklin on Instagram, go check it out now! @ctsehockey
Dennis started his hockey career right here in Oakland at the age of four years old. He would later go on to compete at the AA level in Santa Clara and then the AAA level in Los Angeles. Dennis decided that boarding school was the right path for him; he finished his youth hockey career at Taft.
He is now entering his sophomore year at Columbia University, where he continues to play hockey at the ACHA level. He turned down opportunities to play NCAA Div III because he felt that the education he would receive from Columbia outweighed the other programs. Over the course of this pandemic, Dennis was fueled by the riots and penned a letter to describe himself and how he was feeling. Check it out here.
We will be posting more content like this weekly. Stories of our players, coaches, and other hockey coaches will be told to help guide families in making the right decisions and to show that they are not alone.
We are a #BearsFamily and will continue to grow our community to ensure that all families feel like they can call us home.
