Beat Santa Rosa 2-1 in 2OT, PeeWees finish runner-up

After a hard fought game where offense was at a premium, both teams swapped short handed goals in the first period until goaltending took over for the remainder of the game, turning away everything that came their way. At the conclusion of the first five minute overtime period, the game remained tied 1-1.

Shortly after Oakland killed off a prime power play opportunity for Santa Rosa, Oakland Bear defenseman Andrew Wong scored the unassisted game winner with 3:41 left in the second overtime period to secure the 2012-2013 Pacific Regional Silver Stick Championship. The goal, Wong's first of the tournament, capped a tremendous effort which saw the offense spread throughout a multitiude of players, paced by Cameron Anderson and Joe Oliver with 11 and 10 points respectively over the five games.

The team now has the opportunity to advance to the Silver Stick Final Tournament in Ontario, Canada in January 2013. Stay tuned for more information!

The Oakland Bears PeeWees put up a great team effort, but unfortunately fell short in the Championship game 7-4 to the San Jose Jr. Sharks, after sweeping the round robin portion of the tournament, going 4-0, and outscoring opponents 27-9.

Congratulations to all the Oakland Bears teams who competed in the Silver Stick tournament, including the Bantam and Midget 16 teams. Thank you to all of the wonderful coaches and parents who were gracious enough to spend so much of their holiday weekend inside the freezing rinks or traveling to and from.

GO BEARS!
