Funds to be used for need-based scholarships

The San Francisco Bulls, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, are making a big impact in the youth hockey community in their inaugural season. The Bulls celebrated both their Sharks affiliation and the Bay Area's youth hockey programs in a pair of weekend games on February 9th and 10th at the Cow Palace in Daly City. The team wore special teal colored jerseys for the games, and made them available via raffle and auctions to fans each  night. Proceeds from the auction and raffle benefitted both the Oakland Bears and San Francisco Sabercats.

Representatives from both the Bears Mites and Squirts squads were on hand for Saturday night's win against the Bakersfield Condors, and welcomed the Bulls to the ice with a handshake tunnel during player introductions. During the game, the Bears made numerous appearances on the scoreboard, and went to work picking raffle winners during period intermissions.

The Oakland Bears scholarship fund will benefit from the donation, and help bridge the financial gap for those kids in the program who love the game and qualify for scholarships. Scholarships are an important part of making youth hockey accessible for everyone, and the Bulls generous donation is a wonderful way to enhance the expand the financial reach of the Bears club.

The Bulls are fast-becoming one of the ECHL's most popular teams with over 17,000 fans on Facebook alone. Their frequent community involvement and generosity with their fans is among the many reasons the club is having great success both on and off the ice. Thank you Bulls!
