Vacaville, CA – It was standing room only at the Vacaville Ice Center yesterday afternoon as the top two Midget A teams in NORCAL squared off for the seventh time this season. The Bears scored two early goals and outlasted a late rally by the Capital Thunder to win the championship game 4-2. The Thunder and Oakland both went 13-2-0 during regular season play, but by winning the last three head-to-head matchups, the Thunder took the season series 3-2 and went into this weekend’s tournament as the top seed. The Thunder also won the round robin game Saturday, but the Bears found a way to win with the NORCAL championship on the line. Both teams will move on to play for the CAHA state championship in two weeks in San Jose where they will face the SCAHA champion Pasadena Maple Leafs and runner-up Los Angeles Junior Kings.

Congratulations to the players and coaches on another outstanding regular season that included exhibition games against the top high school teams in California, a tier tournament at the Toyota Center, and an overall record of 31-9-4. Come cheer on your Bears in San Jose! The CAHA tournament starts April 11, 2014. Game times and rink information can be found here.
