SHARKS PLAYERS TO VISIT OAKLAND ICE CENTER ON
MON., SEPT. 14 FROM 4:15-6 P.M.
SAN JOSE, CA - On Mon., Sept. 14 from 4:15-6 p.m., select players from the San Jose Sharks organization will visit the Oakland Ice Center Operated by Sharks Ice (OIC) to greet local fans.
Arriving at 4:15 p.m., the Sharks prospects will take to the ice at 4:30 pm to skate with the public during the late afternoon skating session. Afterward, the players will conduct a hockey skills clinic with the Oakland Bears and the OIC hockey school, followed by an autograph session at 5:30pm.
Joining the Sharks players for the skating and hockey clinics will be Derek Donald, the OIC's hockey manager. Donald, a former Div. I college and professional hockey player, adds two decades of hockey coaching and management experience to the OIC.
"These professionals are taking time out of their busy training camp schedule to spend some time with our skaters," said Melissa Fitzgerald, OIC General Manager. "We never know who has more fun on these visits - the kids or the Sharks players! What we do know is that the message they send about the value of hard work, determination and community spirit forms a huge impression on our young athletes."
Sharks Ice is currently accepting registrations for its fall hockey classes and house hockey league, both of which begin the week of Sept. 14. Sharks Ice offers classes and leagues for children and adults of all ages and ability levels in a variety of ice sports, including ice hockey, figure skating, curling, speedskating, and broomball.

During its tenure at the OIC, Sharks Ice has significantly expanded participation in all ice sports disciplines, while also offering free and low cost programs to thousands of Oakland youths each year.
